Puppy and Kitten Vaccinations

Vaccination is a three round process...

After your puppy or kitten's initial wellness visit, they must return every 3 weeks for 2 more booster exams.

Puppy vaccination Series :

1st visit (at 6-8 weeks of age):
Exam, Bordetella, DA2PPV, dewormer.

2nd visit (at 10-12 weeks of age):
Booster exam, Bordetella, DA2PPV, dewormer.

3rd visit (at 14-16 weeks of age):
Booster exam, Bordetella, DA2PPV, Rabies, dewormer.

Bordetella Vaccination- is given to prevent Kennel Cough. The bacterial infection involved in infectious tracheobronchitis and spread by airborne bacteria. A Dog can catch this disease through contact with other dogs at places like kennels, Grooming salons and dog shows.
DA2PPV - Protection against canine distemper, adenovirus type 2 (and hepatitis), parainfluenza and parvovirus.
Distemper
- It's a highly contagious, often fatal virus that affects a dog's respiratory, gastrointestinal and nervous systems. This virus generally spreads as an airborne infection.
Adenovirus Type 2 - Adenovirus 2 causes a localized respiratory disease in dogs and is a pontential cause of the kennel cough syndrome,
Hepatitis- A viral disease that affects the liver and cells lining the blood vessels, causing high fever, edema and hemorrhage. This disease is very serious in puppies and older aged dogs.
Parainfluenza- A highly contagious disease that's spread via contact or airborne transmission. This disease attacks the respiratory system.
Parvovirus- A highly contagious viral infection that is spread by contact with virus-infected body secretions. This disease strikes quickly, causing damage to the lining of the gastrontestinal tract, and can cause sudden death in some cases.
Rabies- A fatal viral infection of the central nervous system that affects mammals, including humans. Though it is usually transmitted through the bite of an infected animal, it can also be spread when the saliva of the rabid animal comes in contact with broken skin.

Kitten Vaccination Series:

1st visit (at 6-8 weeks of age):
Exam, FVRCP, dewormer

2nd visit (at 10-12 weeks of age):
Booster exam, FVRCP, dewormer

3rd visit (at 14-16 weeks of age):
Booster exam, FVRCP, Rabies, dewormer

FVRCP - The FVRCP vaccination is an important part of your cat's routine. It prevents three potentially deadly airborne viruses such as Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and panleukopenia.

Rhinotracheitis Is triggered by the common feline herpes virus. Symptoms include sneezing, a runny nose and drooling. Your cat's eyes may become crusted with mucous, and he or she may sleep much more and eat much less than normal. If left untreated this disease causes dehydration, starvation, and eventually, death.
Calicivirus has similar symptoms, affecting the respiratory system and also causing ulcers in the mouth. It can result in pneumonia if left untreated. Kittens and senior cats are especially vulnerable.
Panleukopenia is also known as distemper and is easily spread from one cat to another. Distemper is so common that nearly all cats—regardless of breed or living conditions—will be exposed to it in their lifetime. It’s especially common in kittens who have not yet been vaccinated against it, and symptoms include fever, vomiting and bloody diarrhea. This disease progresses rapidly and requires immediate medical attention. Without intervention, a cat can die within 12 hours of contracting the disease.
Rabies- A fatal viral infection of the central nervous system that affects mammals, including humans. Though it is usually transmitted through the bite of an infected animal, it can also be spread when the saliva of the rabid animal comes in contact with broken skin.
